Acclimatization
Before installing Soundec panels, it is necessary to allow for the panels to acclimatize to the surrounding environment, adapt to the temperature and humidity in the room where they are to be installed. It is recommended to acclimatize the panels under these conditions for 7 – 14 days. Optimal acclimatization may be achieved through placing battens between the panels, thereby ensuring good ventilation.
It is important to note that Soundec is a natural material consisting of wood wool and cement, and the very nature of the material composition may incur small variations in the panels. Panel dimensions and weights remain in the tolerance indicated at 23±2°C and 50±5% relative humidity.
However, inappropriate storage and a lack of acclimatization may alter panel dimension and weight.
If you install Soundec panels without prior acclimatization, the panels may shrink when they dry up, thus creating small shrinkage cracks.
-
Storage
Soundec panels should be stored horizontally with proper support, e.g. on pallets or battens. Vertical storage is not allowed; panels may become warped.
When storing Soundec panels indoors it is necessary to remove any wrappings, as condensate may form within the package. Acclimatization will start after the wrappings are removed. It is necessary to protect stored Soundec panels from moisture, direct heat and dust.
When storing Soundec panels outdoors it is necessary to cover the panels with the tarpaulin or similar waterproof material. Outdoor storage should be as short as possible. After that, the panels must undergo acclimatization to the surrounding environment in the room where they are to be installed.
